I’d like to say I am always aspiring. With that being said, I am an aspiring writer of both fan and original fiction for those who love adventures, “banterous” dialogue, and making up words. My fictional ambitions started at an early age and I have been scribbling away ever since. Most of my high school years were spent haunting fanfiction forums for the worlds of Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings, and I look back, holding my head high, able to proudly admit that yes, I was a textbook case nerd.
College changed me. I threw in the towel as far as writing was concerned and focused on bland, financially stable pursuits. It was only during my final semester that I realized that I was dry, plain, and lacked the vibrancy of creativity. One November afternoon I just started writing, picked up on a concept I had long left dormant and formed a world that was thoroughly me.
At this time I realized my life did not have to be starkly absolute: creative/non-creative, it could be a blending of my reality, which is riddled with difficulties, challenges, experiences, and channeled into the creative. Living without my passion diluted me inside and the balance was crucial for my happiness. I too hope you find a balance of your passions and ambitions, and that they may come together in a zen kind of unison. My brother always tells me to “find my zen,” and when I plow away at the keys and empty my mind I am so zen it’s not even funny. *
